Event Log Files Don't Get Backed Up?

As per this article, Microsoft say that event logs are backed up by Windows 2003 Backup because of the advent of Windows Shadow Copy Service.

However I have seen otherwise and it seems live .evt files are not backed up!

I don't quite know what to say, it seems no one wants to admit this.

I have submitted a response in this article at the bottom, so we will see if I get a response from Microsoft!

I suppose there is a reason why there are a few software products out there that look after event log files eg.
