The Next Event   Ashes

Dear Players,

It is with great pleasure that we congratulate Damien Hutchens, Lord Red of Graceland, on the occasion of his first Ashes victory. A long time player, he has finally broken the seal and taken home the trophy, etching his name forever on the leader board.

There was an early charge by the young Hutchens when he took out the ten pin bowling (likely due to the psychological warfare aspect of being half an hour late - what time is 4pm sharp Damo?!)

For the record (Matty the Website Guru)

Ten Pin Bowling

1st Damien 122

2ND Matt 112

3RD Ash 104

There has certainly been a quantum shift in the movement of cash around the table in recent times. Damien has set a new record with a single hand of Gasket pulling in $54.50. There was some serious "blind" betting and much discussion about the fine line between bravery and stupidity. Such is the banter that makes the event worthwhile. This huge haul was achieved quite early and he held off the hordes to be an eventual winner with a profit of $28.50 (showing that he was getting pasted from then on). Matty was second place with about $9 profit and I think I was third with about $6.

Mike sadly took a reaming in that big hand of Gasket and never fully recovered. He went "Hairs" a few hours later. There was an upside to Mike's night, however, with an official naming ceremony bringing him into the fold. Now forever known as Baron Victa von Smear. The references are fairly obscure but that's the whole point. Our first Baron, welcome...

Travis showed early promise with numerous gutsy Napalm wins but unfortunately his night went downhill later on. Firstly he took the Uno Box with a draw of 20 - not huge but still pleasant to watch for the rest of us... He also took the "Quivering Sph!ncter" award with an ugly call of "Worst Hand" that turned out to be a straight and the best hand on the table. It was so painful to watch that Matty had to have photographic evidence, top effort.

Damien can now turn his fearsome intellect to the addition of a charter item (and the removal of an item if he so chooses) so we stand by in breathless anticipation. Well, with minor indifference at least...

Roll on the winter event.

Cheers

Ashman
