Approved Games
This is to assist any ‘new’ players or to
refresh the memories of players who have not attended for a while.
Only Approved Games may be played during the
Card Playing. Players may nominate a Temporary Game for the next Ashes
and these may be added to the Approved list by a majority vote of Current
Members.
1.
Poker – all forms (usually 1 or 2 decks)
(2-9 cards, draw, stud, upcards, hole, blind,
wilds, special deals, betting intervals etc.) NB –
Any form of Poker is automatically considered an Approved Game.
Traditional Ashes Styles of Poker:
“NATO standard” – 5 card draw, 2’s wild
“Lips” - 7 card stud with card auction, 2 discard to 5 hole cards,
staggered upcard betting
“Nepalese Arse Gasket” - 3 card stud, blind or double bet hole,
incomplete betting rounds, top hand 3, 3, 3.
"Napalm" - 7 hole card stud poker, with
progressive pot and side betting. A real Money Mover

Blackjack (Pontoon, Twenty One) – (usually 2 decks)
Casino rules (dealer
must hit on 16 or below). Deal continues until a player gets a
Blackjack (21 in two cards). Player can take the deal, sell it to the
highest bidder or choose another game.
3.
Baccarat – (1 or 2 decks).
Closest to 9 wins (pictures and tens count
for zero). Dealer plays through the whole deck.
4.
Packa Poo – (1 deck).
All players ante to make a ‘pool and dealer
lays down two cards. Player can bet an amount against the ‘pool’ that
the next card will be between these two cards. If an ace comes out
first it is always ‘low’, a second ace is ‘high’. A player may bet the
‘pack’ which is the total in the pool at the time. Pool limit can be
set before the game begins.
5.
Bazooka – (1 or 2 decks)
Each player places 3
piles of chips in front of them. The two lowest hands in each round
throw in one pile of chips. Once your three piles are gone you are out
of the game. Object is get as close to 31 as possible in the same
suit. Aces are 11 and all picture cards are ten. If you think
you have a winning hand you may “Knock” and lay down your cards but that
counts as your turn.
6.
Sevens (1 deck)
All cards are dealt.
Player with the 7 of diamonds goes first. The next player can put down
a 6 of diamonds or an 8 of diamonds (and so on) or another 7 to start
another suit. Object is to get rid of all your cards. Whenever
you cannot play a card you throw in a chip.
7.
Death Uno (1 ½ Uno decks - double the pain cards)
Normal Uno rules except:
You may play any word card on top of any other word card regardless of
colour. Any pain cards (draw two and draw four) accumulate. If
there is ‘pain’ you cannot play a wild card. If a player goes out then
all other players pay him depending on what they have left in their hand.
